Haystack Supper Raises $250,000 for Amish Care Fund at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare

The Amish community recently raised $250,000 at its Haystack Supper event, a benefit auction organized by the Amish community to raise funds for community members who are facing life-limiting illnesses. 
 
The Haystack Supper benefits the Amish Care Fund, which enables Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare to provide superior care and superior services to anyone in the Amish community facing end-of-life illnesses. In addition, grief support services are available to loved ones. 
 
“We are deeply grateful to the organizers and hosts of the Haystack Supper. It is an incredible event” said Kurt Holmes, executive director of Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare. “The Amish Care Fund enables us to continue serving the Amish community. It’s an honor to receive strong community support for superior end-of-life care.” 
 
The benefit was held at the Mt. Hope Event Center in Millersburg, Ohio. More than 3,400 traditional haystack suppers were served. The auction was held by Steve Chupp Auctions. Some of the items at the auction included quilts, furniture, grills, yard care items, gift baskets and a storage building. 
 
“Generous gifts allow us to provide superior care and superior services to the communities we are privileged to serve,” said Katherine Ritchie, development director at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare. “We thank the Amish community and the organizers of this event for their tremendous support of Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare and our mission.” 

Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, a not-for-profit organization established in 1982, is an affiliate of Ohio’s Hospice that serves communities in Wayne, Holmes, Ashland and Medina counties. It embodies the spirit of neighbors caring for neighbors with a commitment to relieve suffering, ease fears, and provide companionship along life’s last journey. Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare addresses patient and family needs wherever the patient calls home. Services also include access to the Stanley C. and Flo K. Gault Inpatient Pavilion, providing short-term patient care to manage acute symptoms, adjust medications, or stabilize patient condition.
